My most brilliant achievement was my ability to be able to persuade my wife to marry me.

If you've been dating for a while, Valentine's Day is a great opportunity to pop the question. A romantic proposal can be the start of a very special marriage—and it's fun to surprise your partner with an idea that makes them feel special. Here are some ideas for how to propose on Valentine's Day:
A proposal on a boat
You'll need to find a boat and arrange for it. This can be done through the marina or by calling the company directly. If you are using a charter service, you will likely need to book at least one day in advance.
Once you have your reservation set, gather up your sweetheart and head out on the water!
If this is going to be your first time taking someone out on a boat for Valentine's Day, then make sure that they know how important this moment is going to be--and don't forget about those rings! Here are some of our products to present the ring in style:
A proposal over dinner with friends and family
A proposal over dinner with friends and family is a great way to make it special. Invite them to dinner, or have dinner at home. Make it a surprise! Have a ring in your pocket, but don't let on till the end of the night when they think everything else has been cleared away (and check out some great ideas for how to propose without getting caught here). Then pop up with the question and have your speech prepared.
A treasure hunt proposal
A treasure hunt proposal is a great way to bring your significant other on an adventure. Make a list of clues, and then follow them one by one--you can make your own map or use Google Maps to do the work for you. You can do this in your own town, or travel somewhere new together! The idea here is that it's fun and exciting, so don't stress about how much time or money goes into making it happen; just enjoy being together while doing something memorable (and romantic). You could make this as long or short as you'd like; just remember that the more involved in planning beforehand means less time spent actually enjoying being engaged!
Propose at sunrise or sunset
It's a romantic idea to propose at sunrise or sunset. It's only natural that these moments of day are perfect for expressing your love.
The great thing about proposals at sunrise or sunset is that they're beautiful no matter where you are on Earth--you don't even have to be at a special place!
A midnight proposal
Midnight proposals are a great way to make your partner feel extra special. The idea is simple: you propose at midnight on Valentine's Day, and then celebrate together with a bottle of champagne.
It's important that you have the ring and words ready beforehand, so that when the time comes, all you need to do is pop the question and open up your heart! Make sure your photographer is on hand to capture this momentous occasion (and also so they can take photos of what happens afterwards). You should also choose an intimate setting where it feels like just the two of you - perhaps somewhere beautiful outdoors in nature?
Hire a professional photographer for a surprise photo shoot
A photo shoot is a great way to commemorate the moment. If you can't afford your own photographer, ask a friend or family member who has some photography experience if they would be willing to help out. They may even have some ideas on where the best place would be for this kind of shoot!
You'll want to find a special place where both of you have shared memories together--the beach where your first date took place, for example--and hire someone who can capture those memories in pictures for everyone else to see as well. Afterward, get the photos printed and put them in an album as part of your gift for each other.
Write it in sand
Write it in the sand. Take your partner to a beach at sunset and write "Will you marry me?" in the sand with heart-shaped footprints leading up to it. This is one of those proposals that requires more planning than just showing up at the beach with the ring--you'll want to make sure there are no other people around when you do this so they don't accidentally get an eyeful while they're walking along the shoreline!
